Wanderlust and Wonder: Our Annual Mother-Daughter Adventure Heads to Spain

Every year, just the four of us—me and my three daughters—pack our bags, kiss the routines goodbye, and set off on a two-week adventure to a new corner of the world. It’s become our most sacred tradition. No distractions, no deadlines—just time to connect, explore, laugh (a lot), and make memories we’ll carry for a lifetime.

Over the years, our travels have taken us through cobblestone streets, up misty mountains, across oceans, and into the heart of cultures vastly different from our own. We've visited museum and culture in Paris, made pasta in a tiny village in Italy, and danced in all night on beaches of Mykonos . Each trip leaves its mark on us, shaping the way we see the world—and each other.

This year, Spain has claimed our hearts.

The idea of wandering through sun-soaked plazas, tasting tapas in candlelit taverns, and getting lost in the rhythm of flamenco felt like exactly the kind of magic we were craving in 2025. From the Moorish marvels of Granada to the cosmopolitan pulse of Barcelona, Spain is calling—and we’re answering with open arms (and stretchy pants).

We’ve got a dream itinerary in the works:

• Madrid for art, churros, and late-night strolls through the buzzing streets.
• Andalusia for whitewashed villages, Alhambra sunsets, and warm-hearted locals.
• San Sebastián for a few days by the sea, sampling pintxos and letting time slow down.
• And of course, Barcelona, where Gaudí’s whimsical architecture is just the beginning of the story.

Beyond the places, though, it’s the people I’m traveling with that make this tradition so special. Watching my daughters grow into curious, open-hearted young women has been my greatest joy. These trips are a chance to pause life’s fast pace and just be together—in laughter, in awe, and occasionally in shared confusion over foreign train schedules.

As we prep for Spain—brushing up on our Spanish, picking the perfect walking shoes, and debating how many outfits are too many—we’re already dreaming of the moments that will become the next chapter in our travel scrapbook.

To all the moms out there: if you’ve ever thought about taking a trip like this with your kids, do it. You won’t regret a single step.
